I couldn't turn off my brain. I couldn't find my kick and by 3/4 of a mile I was reduced to tears because I really felt like I couldn't run - even if I wanted to. I think I can also count on one hand (with fingers left over) how many times I have been reduced to tears by my running. I just wasn't feeling it. I knew I had had long weekend of running. I knew that I had just asked a lot of myself, but I was so upset. So the hubbs stopped me right there and told me to turn around and walk back to the car and leave it there on the trail. I did just that. We went home and did a weight routine but even that didn't feel right. I was sweating sooo bad and I knew something was up. My throat is sore, my nose is getting stuffy - I was/am getting sick and it just wasn't my day. I actually took a shower and crawled into bed at 6:30 to finish up a book and hit the sack. If felt so decadent to crawl into bed that early.
Today my throat is on fire, and I know I have a fever. But it's tax time damn it! And no one calls in sick! So I'm at my office, plugging away and hoping the Tylenol cold will kick in soon. I have some hill repeats on schedule today and I don't think those are going to happen. I still have 60 days until Boston and I know taking a few days rest won't set me back at all. Gotta down the fluids and rest up while I can, because tackling marathon training during a busy tax season is less than ideal and I at least need to do it healthy!
So amidst all of my whining and feeling less than stellar, some sunshine came into my life by way of my bloggy buddy Tonia over at Racing with Babes!
Thanks Tonia for the sunshine - it couldn't have come at a better time!

Being sick is the worst- especially when you have to work through it! Hopefully some soup and some early nights in bed will have you feeling good as new soon!
My wife's a CPA, so she and I share your pain. Try Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold products. They work for me when I'm not feeling well. Feel better soon!
Oh no!!! Feel better. Is it possible to pass a cold through email, nah... I have been sick off and on for over a month, I dont get it, I am usually really healthy..
Obviously you did not run fast enough because the cold caught you. Dang, I crack myself up. Get better!
Ahhh, thanks!
Sorry you're sick! I'm sick too today, but with different symptoms and I stayed home!
aww - hope you feel better!
Tax season sucks when you're in that field! You're wise to take a few rest days and recover. Hope you're feeling better soon.
Me?? Sunshine award? All I do is whine and complain! But thanks for that, girl! I feel like crap. Have for oh, 10 days now but today I feel even worse that I did last week. So here's what everyone told me: rest! Not that it did me any good and I'm about to head over to the gym since I'm off work today but I haven't been running myself into the ground either so. So rest up and fuel up, girlie! Sorry about my whiny email to you, too. ugh. I need you to get feeling better and be my emotional support girl!! :)
Big hug to you!!
xo
I'm happy to have brought you some sunshine. Hope you feel better soon!
Sorry you're feeling crappy! Hope it passes really fast, in the meantime rest up and take care.
Thanks for the sunshine! I'll take all I can get these days!
Thanks so much for the sunshine award! That is so funny that we sent it to each other at the same time. I hope that if you are still feeling sick you DO take a day off. I teach and sub plans are such a huge huge pain and there are many days you just think you have to be there. But 99% of the time it will go on without you. There is more work to do when you come back but that day of rest can really rejuvenate you! I hope you can take it.
Feel better soon! I'm sure you'll be back to training in no time and in the meantime the rest will do you good.
Sorry you are feeling sick - feel better soon!
Thanks for the sunshine award. :)
There is some kind of bug running around and it seems I am catching it also. At least I don't have Boston to train for.
Hope you are feeling better REALLY soon.
Well, POOP that you are sick. I have not been sick in well over 18 months, as you said, because of my activity (running) level. Get better - cuddle with the furry girl, that always works.
Thanks for the sunshine - I need it with the week I've had at work. xoxo
Hey my link matches your page :)
THANK YOU!!!
I hope you feel better soon! Thanks for the sunshine :-) It made my day!!! Also, the movie is called Prefontaine, but I am going to rent the other ones that are out there too to compare :-) Have a great night and rest up!
Thanks for the shot out! Take it easy and get healthy. As I have learned from painful experience it is SO MUCH BETTER to take some time off than to get in a hole.
awww feel better. my next race is in 10 days and I'm fearing being sick, like, well, the plague.
You've already gotten the Sunshine Award but I gave it to you too because I think your blog is awesome!
Thank you for the award girlie. I appreciate it.
I hope you are feeling better. :(
I kinda wish being sick would explain my snarky mood...seriously and you gave me such a sweet award and I just posted like the most downer thing...ugh. Wow this is a downer too, so let's turn that around.
Hope you are getting some super overtime for tax season and just think...it's like half done...it's a marathon not a sprint? :)
