Product Review: Tide Plus Febreze Sport

We all spend a small fortune on our running and exercise clothes.  It's a whole other wardrobe we spend time and money on.  You have to look good working out, right?  But I was finding that my traditional Tide liquid detergent just wasn't getting out the "stink" every wash.  I have read reviews for other specialty sports clothes detergents, like Win, and even spoke to a few of you that have used them.  The reviews were mixed, and with a hefty price tag I wasn't thrilled to spend upwards of $15 on a single bottle of detergent that produced maybe 20-30 loads.

I take extra care of my running clothes.  I buy good quality clothing that I want to last a really long time.  I don't know if some of you know this, but fabric softeners lessen the effectiveness of the wicking material in sports clothes.  I do not add my usual fabric softener to my running/exercise clothes wash and I also hang them to dry.  It's a huge hassle but I know that it really does extend the life of my clothing.  So with that being said, my clothes were still not coming out smelling all that great.  I would be running just a few miles in a new shirt or shorts and could smell the old "stank" right away.  So annoying!  And if I could smell it, I bet those around me could, too!  Oh the horror!

Tide has come up with a new detergent especially for running/exercise clothes called Tide plus Febreze Sport Liquid Laundry Detergent.  I am already a faithful user of the liquid Tide and I thought that maybe this would help me eliminate the dreaded stink.  I had a hard time finding it after I first saw the ad on TV.  Oh yes, all my marketing friends, I am your best customer.  I am that person who responds well to all the marketing on TV and print ads.  I searched the grocery stores, I even searched Target for a few weeks but couldn't find it.  Finally I was in Sac visiting my family and decided to try their Target.  They had it and it had a $2 coupon!  Sold!

The very first load came out of the washer smelling awesome.  As I was hanging our clothes up the whole room smelled better.  But the real test would come when I went out for my first run.  On that first run I couldn't smell a thing!  Actually, I smelled pretty darn good!  It also allowed the fabric to keep on wicking away the sweat!  I've been using the new detergent now for about a month and I am more than thrilled with it.  My clothes smell great, not overly perfumey, but definitely smelling better.  So, if you are looking for an affordable and effective way to keep your running clothes smelling good and lasting longer, I would totally recommend trying out the new Tide.  Target sells the 60 load bottle for $11.99 and all of the ones I have seen have a $2 coupon attached to it.  It may seem like a hefty price tag for detergent, but it really is worth the money if it can extend the life of our running clothes and you don't smell like a sweaty, gross mess!
**I was not compensated at all by Tide or Procter & Gambel for my review of Tide Plus Febreze.  I bought the product with my own money and wanted to share my own experience with all of you.

Hope this review is helpful for all of you!
Happy Running and Happy Tuesday peeps!

Thanks for the tip! I have been noticing that with my running clothes lately and definitely need something to help keep them fresh smelling. I'm gonna go grab a jug this weekend!

That's so funny. I was very excited to try Tide Sport, but only used it once. The fragrance seemed very strong to me, and gave me a nasty headache. I was bummed... I am also a faithful Tide user. I'm back to washing my running clothes in Tide Coldwater, and adding a capful of white vinegar to the load. The vinegar is supposed to kill the bacteria that causes the odors, and so far it's working.

Sold to the guy with the awesome hair! I'll give it a shot. I was always a little leery of the price tag for that Win stuff or whatever it was called.

I've been wondering about this! Win doesn't work for me so maybe this will. Thanks!

I need to find this stuff. I have allergic reactions to anything non-Tide, so this might work for me!

This review was SUPER helpful. Thanks for admitting to your stink and doing something about it. ;)

Seriously though, thanks!

I have been wondering about this detergent, but my only thing is that I have to wash my clothes in non-scented/hypo-allergenic detergent because I have nerdy-sensitive skin, so I bet this would irritate me and cause a rash. Guess I might just have to continue to stink.

Good to know! :) I tried win so it is nice to know this product exists. Also, did not know about the softener.

AWESOME! Thanks so much for this review! I had been wondering about it when I saw the ad, but now I need to get a bottle of my own. I agree that the other specialty detergents are too pricey and you know what...I noticed a different but not THAT much and certainly no 'clean laundry' smell, which I actually like.

I just put this on my Target list!

This is so good to know. I hate smelling myself stink even though I know the clothes are clean. I've used original dawn and that helped but not perfect. I'll look for the Tide next time at the store. Thanks for the tip.

Oh horror! I washed my expensive bike shorts in it and this stuff is horribly allergenic. My crotch was on fire in minutes! Worse, it won't wash out and nearly all my cycling and running clothes are unwearable! P&G took my report and sent me a coupon but didnt believe that the chemicals won't wash out. I'm furious!

I am so glad that I read a review on the Tide Sport with Febreeze product on Amazon (as well a couple of other reviews on the product); it only confirms my beliefs that I've been experiencing an awful and ITCHY allergic reaction to using Tide Sport on my bedding! While this product smells AWESOME and leaves your clothes and bedding smelling fresh (that just out of the laundry clean linen smell), it's definitely not worth the discomfort!

As of about a week and a half ago, I had purchased new bedding (sheet sets) as well as this Tide Sport product. Around the same timeframe I began going to my doctor's office because I began having hundreds of horrible, raised, insect-bite looking marks/bumps all over my arms and legs that were extremely itchy! I have never had any type of allergic reactions to any products so my first reaction was that it must be bed bugs so I washed all of my sheets again, washed my comforter, took all of the necessary precautions, vacuumed everywhere, etc. but was still receiving new (nightly) bumps that appeared like insect bites on my skin. The doctor believed that it was either Folliculitis or bed bug bites because I only had been receiving more and more bite-like marks on my body after sleeping in those sheets (revelation: that I've been washing repeatedly in the new detergent). I was even put on anti-itch antibiotics and creams due to this awful itching feeling (which only now makes sense because of these other reviews I read). I've had these symptoms for almost 2 weeks now and not only are they unsightly, they are beyond itchy and I will get hives all over my legs and arms (which just began near the base of my collar bone).

I'm going to be purchasing a new laundry detergent and will re-wash all of my sheets and if I see a difference I will post an update to this review.

Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found
a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back!
LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to
tell someone!

My developer is trying to convince me to move to .net from
PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the expenses.

But he's tryiong none the less. I've been using WordPress on a variety
of websites for about a year and am worried about switching to
another platform. I have heard good things about blogengine.
net. Is there a way I can import all my wordpress posts into it?
Any kind of help would be really appreciated!

Checking detailed mattress materials, reviews, ratings and complaints is a good idea before shelling out your money - you would be surprised at what you will learn. Also, ask for written details as some salespeople will tell you everything good you like to hear; some people may claim 100% natural latex mattress while it actually has synthetic latex in it. It's best to know about this fickle piece of documentation before finding out the hard way that it is not what you thought it was. fleet mattress
